Madison Square Park Conservancy is responsible for the maintenance of the park’s lawns which are in the process of spring reseeding. While the grass is establishing now, visitors should expect the majority of lawns to be ready for use in late May.  Lawns are open daily for public use starting at 10 AM through 5 PM, weather permitting. Lawns are closed on Parade Days.  Learn more about park hours and rules by visiting our FAQ page.

Reflecting Pool in Summer

Made from granite, the Reflecting Pool is a shallow, circular pool often surrounded by tables and chairs. It’s a prime location to relax, reflect, and enjoy the park on a beautiful day.

Visitors will find that the Reflecting Pool is centrally located between the playground, the Oval Lawn, and the Admiral Farragut Monument.

Accessible to the public throughout the year, the pool is filled during the spring and summer months. Visitors have been treated to plants and flowers growing on the surface of its waters in years past. During the winter, it’s drained and often used as a play space for children.
