Patterns in the Park: The Magic of Nature’s Math
Did you know there are many mathematical patterns, calculations, and shapes that exist in nature? This spring’s horticulture exhibition, The Geometry of Flowers, utilizes our landscape to showcase artistically arranged flowers and the natural patterns within them.
Join us on April 11 as we partner with the Simons Foundation and the National Museum of Mathematics to kick off our exhibition with a celebration of math, science, and natural phenomena.
Stop by the Northern Reflecting Pool from 2:30 – 4:30 PM. Program is free and open to the general public.
Activations include:
Let’s Talk Science! – Explore the park with researchers and scientists as they find examples of the Fibonacci sequence and other mathematical patterns.
Up Close & Natural – Take a mathematical lens to an apple, leaf, and other nature favorites.
