Letters to the Trees

Tree Canopy

Each year on Arbor Day, we take time to appreciate our trees and all that they have to offer.

Madison Square Park is home to over 300 trees. They provide shade on hot summer days and shelter for some of our favorite wildlife. They clean the air that we breathe and keep carbon emissions from entering the atmosphere—something that is becoming more important as the park faces increasing implications of climate change.

Join us in celebrating the trees by writing a handwritten letter, composing a poem, or creating a drawing for any tree you love in Madison Square Park. Place your completed letter in one of the dropboxes located throughout the park, or share your letter on Instagram and tag @madsqparknyc.

Thank you to our sponsors: Columbia Property Trust and Eataly.
