Fall Kids Fest Glee!
Gleeful children everywhere! It makes us so happy to spread Fall Kids Fest glee with a park full of fun, pumpkins, costumes and children bouncing from one section to the next.
The celebrated pumpkin patch was stocked with sugar pumpkins galore and children transformed their pumpkin into owls to take home and adore. The pumpkin carving demonstration was quite popular, teaching our Mad. Sq. Kids a thing or two on carving the perfect pumpkin. Everyone filled up on ice cream sandwiches from Melt Bakery, colorful rice crispy treats from The Treats Truck, delicious Rita’s Italian Ice, crisp apples from Hurd’s Family Farm and washed everything down with Poland Spring water. Bellies were full and so was the crafts tent while kids created puppets with The New Victory Theater, super hero masks with the Wildlife Conservation Society, fabulous paper folding activity with MoMath, foam pumpkins and scratch art glasses presented by Let’s Gogh Art, egg maraca shakers with The Little Orchestra Society and tablet origami with Taro’s Origami Studio.
Stage performances rocked and people flocked to the southern gravel and northern reflecting pool, dancing to tunes by The Little Rockers Band and Songs for Seeds. Max Darwin brought the giggles as he awed everyone with magical fun. DJ of the day was Radio Disney Junior playing hip tunes and kiddie trivia, while Central Park Zoo’s Wildlife Theater opened the event with jazzy enthusiasm for our furry friends, the polar bears.
Everyone brought their A-Game for the games section on the Oval Lawn. Clif Kid introduced a nutritional bean bag toss, Hill Country Chicken brought samples of their tasty pies and children tossed rings at the Boylan’s ring toss. Kiddies also made magnet paintings with Storefront Science, and Gate Hill Day Camp brought traditional camp games, and even a huge parachute to the Oval Lawn!
Story time in the books tent began with Rocket Writes a Story with author Tad Hills, and followed with The Crowded Kingdom, read by author, Louella San Juan. Thank you to both authors for a wonderful story time! Books also featured a bookmark decorating activity with the Girl Scouts of Greater New York, while author Louella San Juan brought paper dolls to the station, featuring characters from her book. And if that wasn’t enough for southern gravel fun, the movies tent introduced us to the latest Disney film, FROZEN, out this November.
Thank you for joining us on a truly wonderful day for Fall Kids Fest 2013! A HUGE thank you to our sponsors for helping us provide a day of free fun for all children!
