Madison Square Park Conservancy is responsible for the maintenance of the park’s lawns, which includes closing the lawns each year from October through May for reseeding. With the heightened need for public space, the Conservancy has kept the lawns open throughout the pandemic. For the month of April, all lawns will be closed to reestablish the grass in time for summer.

Photography Volunteer

Madison Square Park Conservancy is seeking a volunteer photographer to take professional photos of the Park. These photos will be used and shared on our website, social, and print collateral, among other applicable channels. You will work closely with the Communications Team to produce high-quality photographic images. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Spend 2–3 hours per week photographing the Park using various angles and orientations
  • Ability to take professional, quality photos
  • Skilled at editing photos where necessary
  • Communicate with Graphic Design and Communications Associate prior to and in follow up to shoots on needs
  • Provide JPEG images for use
  • Be available to take pictures for scheduled events

Minimum Requirements

  • Be available to take pictures for scheduled events
  • Volunteers must commit to at least 36 hours of service within a seasonal period.
  • Volunteers can reapply for continuing seasonal service.
  • MSPC is now recruiting for the spring commitment  April 1- May 31
  • Volunteers must be able to provide their own photography equipment

Other Considerations

  • Volunteers will be provided with a suggested shot list
  • Not all photos will be used in publications, some may be needed for archival purposes
