Pathway Construction Update
Pathway Construction Update
The NYC Department of Parks & Recreation continue their year-long reconstruction of Madison Square Park’s pavers at the southern end of the park. To date, their contractor has completed work on the east side and is now focusing on the southwest quadrant of the park. Currently, the contractor is removing old material (pavers and underlying asphalt) and beginning to pour concrete that will serve as the base for the new pavers. Within the coming weeks, the contractor will begin installing the new pavers, starting from the northern-most area (near the dog run) and working south. As stretches of pathway are completed,
those areas will be reopened to the public. The project is scheduled to be completed by June of this year (2023).
We understand that reducing access to some areas of the park while NYC Parks oversees this project may be frustrating to parkgoers, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We are grateful for your understanding and flexibility during this time. You can learn more about this project on the NYC Parks website here.
