The Year In Review 2022: Horticulture
Looking back at 2022, the park was continually filled with horticultural fun! Our Spring Forward, into Summer exhibition, brought the beauty of cutting gardens to New York City. Dahlias, zinnias, cosmos, and lavender were a huge hit! The cut flower stand was a popular destination for park visitors to grab a flower to bring home or give to a friend. Florists, flower farmers, and plant enthusiasts shared their expertise throughout the summer on zoom. If you missed this series, check it out here.
Winter is a time for rest and relaxation. At the Park, leaves have fallen to provide shelter for beneficial insects, and evergreens are putting on a show of form and structure. Gardeners across the Northeast are planning and scheming their own gardens for the year to come. There is so much to look forward to in the Park for 2023.
Spring will be heralded in with a spectacular show of bulbs, and this year there will be a wide variety of bulbs, including tulips, hyacinths, fritillarias, anemones, and many more. Designs will appear with mathematical accuracy as the horticulture team focused on the Fibonacci sequence. This famous formula will come alive and showcase the beauty of math all around us, even in parks! The Geometry of Flowers will start March 14 through May 9th.
