Madison Square Park Conservancy is responsible for the maintenance of the park’s lawns which are in the process of spring reseeding. While the grass is establishing now, visitors should expect the majority of lawns to be ready for use in late May.  Lawns are open daily for public use starting at 10 AM through 5 PM, weather permitting. Maya Lin Named One of the 100 Most Influential People of 2022 by Time Magazine

Congratulations to Maya Lin on being named one of Time‘s 100 Most Influential People of 2022.

Lin’s Ghost Forest exhibition was on view in Madison Square Park in 2021, and featured 49 Atlantic white cedar trees that towered over parkgoers, representing the outsized impact of looming environmental calamity and the harsh devastation of climate change. In her profile of Lin for the Time article, author Celeste Ng wrote that the exhibition “[punctured] Madison Square Park with an eerie glimpse into the future: the slow decimation of forests that’s already occurring around the globe” and that “Lin has an uncanny power to make the invisible visible, shaking us out of complacency into a new state of awareness.”
