Past Letters to the Trees
Past Letters to the Trees
Over the past three years we have held a Letters to the Trees event in the park, which allows visitors to celebrate Madison Square Park’s trees with personal, handwritten notes.
Each message shared during Letters to the Trees has its own individual expression. Some are letters of thanks, but others choose to express their gratitude through poetry and illustrations. While the trees can’t write letters in return, we wanted to share this project of love with the greater community and thank all of our tree lovers for their support of our urban forest over the years.
Letters to the Trees returns to the park this spring on April 15. Look for dropboxes throughout the park where you can share your handwritten letters—or tag us in your own personal messages on social media (@madsqparknyc). And consider supporting our trees directly by making a donation to our Tree Fund.
