Meet Romeo
Introduce us to Romeo.
My daddies George and Bill say they always thought that if they ever got a dog, it would be a black, long-haired dachshund with tan markings. Like me! So when they saw me in a store window while shopping for paint for our new apartment near Madison Square Park, we went home together. I was really glad because I had been in that window for two months, all my brothers and sisters went away and I was “marked down” twice; they call me a rescue dog. It was Valentine’s Day, so they named me Romeo!
How long has Romeo been visiting Madison Square Park? And what is his favorite thing about the park?
I have been going to Madison Square Park almost every day since we moved nearby six years ago when I was a little puppy! I like everything about the park, but of course the (small) dog run, all the people who want to pet me, and the smells from Shake Shack are my favorite.
Does Romeo have any particular dog friends in the park?
We like everyone! ‘Specially Dachshunds Gino, Frank, Poppy and Corgi Waffle!
If Romeo could tell the visitors of Madison Square Park one thing, what would it be?
Join me and donate to the new dog run coming next year! Now gravel gets stuck in my paws! Ouch! It’s gonna be great! Donate on the park website and note “Dog run/Romeo sent me!”
Anything else you would like to share?
I think that Madison Square Park is about the best thing in my neighborhood. I wish people knew that it’s up to all of us to keep it wonderful.
Thanks for asking!
