Madison Square Park Conservancy is responsible for the maintenance of the park’s lawns which are in the process of spring reseeding. While the grass is establishing now, visitors should expect the majority of lawns to be ready for use in late May.  Lawns are open daily for public use starting at 10 AM through 5 PM, weather permitting. Lawns are closed on Parade Days.  Learn more about park hours and rules by visiting our FAQ page.

Discover our Pollinators

DSC05761

Calling all citizen scientists! To honor the birds, bees, beetles, and butterflies that keep the park healthy and vibrant, we are taking time to learn as much as possible about these species and their habitats.

With support from our sponsor, Eataly, we are hosting our first ever Pollinator Week BioBlitz. A BioBlitz is an ecological survey done over a short period of time where participants of all ages can record all of the species living in a specific place––in this case, our park!

You don’t have to be an actual scientist to collect information that will help us protect the park’s pollinators, all you need is the free iNaturalist app to make observations of what you see in the park. The data collected will help us make important decisions, such as where to place new bee homes or what kind of native plants we should plant to serve as food sources.

Become a citizen scientist and help us learn more about the pollinators that call our park home.
