Madison Square Park Conservancy is responsible for the maintenance of the park’s lawns which are in the process of spring reseeding. While the grass is establishing now, visitors should expect the majority of lawns to be ready for use in late May.  Lawns are open daily for public use starting at 10 AM through 5 PM, weather permitting. Lawns are closed on Parade Days.  Learn more about park hours and rules by visiting our FAQ page.

Spring Scavenger Hunt

March 1 - May 31, 2021 | 12 AM - 11 PM

Spring Scavenger Hunt

Scavengerhunt

Flowers blooming and birds chirping signal that spring is upon us. After a long hard winter, our favorite species have begun showing themselves in our park.

From birds to bees, flowers to fungi, join us in exploring the park’s plants and wildlife by participating in our seasonal Scavenger Hunt—all ages welcome! Make observations to help us identify what’s living in and around your park. Record your findings by taking a photo and sharing it on the iNaturalist app—your observations will help keep Madison Square Park green.

Learn more about iNaturalist here, or download a printable worksheet to get started here.

Thank you to our sponsors: Columbia Property Trust and Eataly.
