Madison Square Park Conservancy is responsible for the maintenance of the park’s lawns which are in the process of spring reseeding. While the grass is establishing now, visitors should expect the majority of lawns to be ready for use in late May.  Lawns are open daily for public use starting at 10 AM through 5 PM, weather permitting. Lawns are closed on Parade Days.  Learn more about park hours and rules by visiting our FAQ page.

Every Wednesday from February 7 – April 3 | 12pm – 2pm | Southern Fountain

Have you ever wanted to safely look into the sun? Well now’s your chance!

Join scientists and staff from the Simons Foundation on Wednesdays in the park to take a (safe!) close look at the sun and learn more about the upcoming solar eclipse that will sweep across the nation in April. Stop by the park to chat about anything and everything revolving around the sun and astronomy. Solar telescopes will be set up for park-goers to look through. Weather permitting.

This work is supported by the Simons Foundation and is part of its ‘In the Path of Totality’ initiative. Make sure to add it to your calendar using the button below!
