Madison Square Park Conservancy is responsible for the maintenance of the park’s lawns which are in the process of spring reseeding. While the grass is establishing now, visitors should expect the majority of lawns to be ready for use in late May.  Lawns are open daily for public use starting at 10 AM through 5 PM, weather permitting. Lawns are closed on Parade Days.  Learn more about park hours and rules by visiting our FAQ page.

April 15 – 30 | Throughout the Park

Celebrate Arbor Day by thanking the park’s trees for all that they do. As an accredited, Level II Arboretum Madison Square Park has over 300 trees and a rich diversity of species to enjoy.

Mailboxes with writing materials will be located throughout the park for parkgoers to show their love for any tree in the park by writing a handwritten letter, composing a poem, or creating a drawing. Mailboxes will feature the park’s arboretum map which you can also download here.

On Tuesdays, staff will be on-site with writing materials and displaying letters in the park for all to view (near the reflecting pool).
