Madison Square Park Conservancy is responsible for the maintenance of the park’s lawns which are in the process of spring reseeding. While the grass is establishing now, visitors should expect the majority of lawns to be ready for use in late May.  Lawns are open daily for public use starting at 10 AM through 5 PM, weather permitting. Lawns are closed on Parade Days.  Learn more about park hours and rules by visiting our FAQ page.

City of Forest Day

Sun In Trees Png

Come enjoy the beauty of Madison Square Park’s Level 2 arboretum in the heart of Manhattan!

Join us for an afternoon of family-friendly tree tours and other activities as we celebrate our love of NYC’s urban forest. Stop by the Reflecting Pool at noon for a guided tree tour, or grab a self-guided map and explore the park’s arboretum on your own. Coloring sheets will also be available, which attendees can use to envision their own tree canopy.

Free and open to all. The guided tree tour is limited to 20 participants on a first-come, first-serve basis and registration is required:
