2026 City Nature Challenge
Join us for the 2026 City Nature Challenge in Madison Square Park!
Be part of a global effort to discover and document the wildlife around us. This international event brings communities together to observe and celebrate the birds, insects, plants, and other wildlife living in our city.
From April 24 – April 27, visit the park, take photos of any wildlife you see, and share your observations using the iNaturalist app. Every observation helps us better understand and support the species that call Madison Square Park home.
Need help using iNaturalist? Learn more about the app here and stop by the reflecting pool during these times for hands-on guidance:
Friday, April 24 | 12 PM – 4 PM
Saturday, April 25 | 10 AM – 2 PM
Monday, April 27 | 12 PM – 4 PM
The City Nature Challenge is an international effort founded by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and California Academy of Sciences to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe.
