2022 City Nature Challenge
Join us for the 2022 City Nature Challenge in Madison Square Park. This international event brings together 443 cities from around the world to gather observations of wildlife. This year, Madison Square Park will join greenspaces from across New York City to see who can be the first to reach 5,000 observations as part of our “Greenspace Race.”
During the event, visit the park and take photos of birds, plants, insects, and any other wildlife you see. Then share your findings using the iNaturalist app. Every observation made in the park helps us better understand and support the species that live here.
You can learn more about iNaturalist here, or visit the park on April 29 from 9 AM–3PM to chat with iNaturalist experts.
The City Nature Challenge is an international effort founded by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and California Academy of Sciences to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe.
