OVERVIEW

Madison Square Park Conservancy (MSPC) raises 100% of the funds needed to operate Madison Square Park, a 6.2-acre public greenspace in the heart of Manhattan. In addition to maintaining the park, MSPC supports nationally recognized horticulture, commissions contemporary public art, and plans and implements sustainability initiatives and free programming.

Reporting to the Director of Advancement and working closely with the Executive Director and senior program team, the Senior Manager of Institutional Giving will be responsible for developing and implementing MSPC’s strategy and annual plan for foundation and government funding, including identifying grant prospects, cultivating and growing institutional relationships, writing and submitting grant applications, and tracking and reporting on successful grants.

RESPONSIBILITIES
● Maintain a portfolio of foundations, and cultivate new and steward existing institutional relationships
● Represent the organization and its mission at meetings with foundations and government officials
● Facilitate day-to-day relationships and communications with foundation contacts, including drafting and sending acknowledgment letters and event invitations and communicating with the offices of government agencies and elected officials
● Write grant proposals and reports, and manage large-scale grant applications and budgets for foundations and government agencies
● Liaise with staff in all departments to generate proposal and report materials, including project scopes and budgets
● Develop foundation and government income and expense projections for MSPC’s annual budget and track against actuals
● Work with the Director of Finance to reconcile monthly and annual income and expenses
● Manage comprehensive foundation and government grants calendar
● Work with DonorPerfect to receive, process, and track all grants
● Work with other Development and Communications staff to manage foundation and
government donor listings in printed and electronic materials, including MSPC’s website

QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor’s degree or in lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to relevant work experience and certificate programs and classes in Fundraising, Development, Grantwriting, and related fields
● 5+ years of relevant fundraising experience
● Exceptional writing and communication skills
● Attention to detail and superior editing skills

● Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to handle multiple projects effectively, balance many priorities on a regular basis, and ability to meet deadlines with limited oversight
● Committed to and enthusiastic about the organization’s mission and programs
● Persuasive and strategic communicator with strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability
● Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently
● Comfortable interacting with all levels of staff, trustees, patrons, foundation and government contacts, and the public in a professional, dynamic, and engaging manner
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word & Excel), Google Suite, DonorPerfect
Compensation, Benefits, and Schedule
● Salary range is $72,000 – $75,000 based on experience

● Schedule: Flexible 4- or 5-day schedule; 3 days in office required
