Protected: EcoTones @ Madison Square Park
EcoTones @ Madison Square Park was an immersive, whimsical outdoor concert which took place on June 6, 2026. The audience followed a guided “music trail” through the park, where small ensembles performed original, commissioned chamber works near the trees and landscapes that inspired them. Beginning at Redbud Lawn, the trail concluded on the Oval Lawn with a full-ensemble performance by all 18 musicians.
Commissioned by MSPC, cellist, composer, and presenter Jody Redhage Ferber created these new works as part of her ongoing EcoTones Concerts series, which brings live, site-specific music into outdoor public spaces. These compositions were inspired by the park’s historic trees and its five horticultural collections: Camellias, Daffodils, Hydrangeas, Redbuds, and Witch Hazels.
The experience continued beyond the event through permanent QR-coded recordings placed throughout the park, allowing visitors to encounter the music again while exploring the landscape.
