Join us as we kick off Mad. Sq. Music: The Studio Series, presented by The Baisley Powell Elebash Fund, with a double bill of traditional and contemporary folk. Boston-based singer-songwriter Catie Curtis is a 15-year veteran of the folk circuit, with songs featured on Dawson’s Creek, Felicity, Alias, Chicago Hope, and Grey’s Anatomy. Her most recent album, Hello Stranger, was named by The Boston Globe as one of the top ten folk albums of 2009. She’ll perform on the Studio stage with Lindsay Mac playing cello and Elana Arian playing fiddle.
Upstate New Yorkers Mike and Ruthy, formerly of The Mammals, draw heavily on Ruthy’s traditional folk background (she is the daughter of fiddle legend Jay Unger) and Mike’s rock-leaning sensibility. The duo have performed with music greats Pete Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews and John Melloncamp.
