Wrapping Up Spring Kids Fest!

Last Saturday, our Mad. Sq. Park lil’ ones joined us in celebrating our 10-year anniversary at Spring Kids Fest!  With the help of our co-presenters Time Out Kids, the entertainment was rockin’, the crafts were shining, the treats were sweet and brightly painted faces were smiling throughout the park. Festivities started at 10:30am and the park was filled with a slew of activities for kids young and old.

The Books section featured the Conservancy’s acclaimed EXPLORE! cart with 2 activities that taught the kiddos all about MSP.  Families mellowed and stretched out with a Karma Kids yoga mat activity while we hosted an MSP Storytime with readings from: Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss, George and Martha by James Marshall and Bark, George by Jules Feiffer.

The Crafts section was bustling! With mandala-coloring projects from the Rubin Museum of Art, Amazing Acrobats from MoMath, recycled crafts with RePlay Ground, an eco-art installation with the Children’s Museum of the Arts, discovery tables from apple seeds and sun catchers with MSPC, the fun never stopped!

The Southern end of the park was scrumdiddlyumptious with sweets from Treats Truck, and snacks from Pirates Booty and Pop Chips — we guarantee no one left with a grumbling belly! Our arms warmed up as we tossed pies to a very good sport from our friends at Hill Country Chicken. Thanks for taking hundreds for the team! Our neighbors at Marimekko taught us how to make greeting cards with really hip fabric. Disney brought all kinds of cool gear from their latest movie Brave. And a special thank you to New York Life for bringing your gifting wheel!

Festival youngsters were entertained with live performances from kid faves Songs for Seeds, the energetic musical stylings of The Rockdoves, the magical talents of The Amazing Max and the super rockin band, The Fuzzy Lemons.

Thank you again for joining us for the 2012 Spring Kids Fest. We hope you had a blast! If you missed the fun, no need to fret. We welcome all to the 2012 Fall Kids Fest on October 13! See you then!
