For our second installment of the Mad. Sq. Music: Studio Series concerts, the Conservancy presented an afternoon of folk and Americana with legendary folk duo Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, and up-and-coming Americana singer-songwriters, 3 Penny Acre.
Jay and Molly brought an eclectic mix of traditional folk to the stage as they performed originals and standards of the American songbook. Along with trumpeter Peter Ecklund, Jay and Molly performed a poignant set of songs that straddled their decades-long career.
Opening the show was Americana and roots trio, 3 Penny Acre. With their friend and fellow musician, Anthony da Costa, 3 Penny performed songs from their critically acclaimed debut album, 3 Penny Acre as well as songs off of their newest release, Highway 71. Jay Ungar also joined the group for a few numbers – an exciting surprise for many folk aficionados in the audience!
